Amirali Ghavam of Eckerd men’s tennis was named Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference in singles, the conference announced on May 6. Ghavam achieved a 12-4 record during the season, including two wins in conference play. He mainly competed at the No. 3 position, where he posted an 11-2 mark.
Ghavam also recorded 12 victories in doubles competition this season. This marks the second consecutive year and fourth time in five seasons that an Eckerd College Tritons student-athlete has been represented on the All-SSC Teams.
Eckerd College Tritons participates in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports such as basketball, golf, sailing, soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, rowing and cross country as part of the Sunshine State Conference, according to the official website. The athletics program promotes cultural values by encouraging mental, physical and spiritual growth through discipline, fellowship and competition.
The college’s athletic facilities include the McArthur Center with a primary training room and the Turley Complex with a satellite training room. The program recognizes student-athletes through awards such as the Triton Award for excellence in academics, athletics and leadership.
