The City of St. Petersburg, in collaboration with the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is organizing a series of workshops to engage the community in discussing transportation opportunities in South St. Petersburg. This initiative is part of the Connecting South St. Pete CRA Study, which aims to enhance walking, biking, and transit access across neighborhoods and commercial corridors.
Residents and business owners within the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area (CRA) are invited to share their experiences regarding safe travel, destination access, and transit use at these workshops. The first workshop will take place on Saturday, January 25th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Childs Park Recreation Center. The second session is scheduled for Tuesday, January 28th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., hosted by St. Petersburg College Douglas L. Jamerson, Jr. Midtown Center, followed by the final workshop on Wednesday, January 29th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., held at Campbell Park Recreation Center.
Participants will be briefed on current transportation improvements and have an opportunity to provide feedback on community perceptions and specific location-based transportation needs such as improved access to transit services and infrastructure like sidewalks and bike lanes.
The study team plans ongoing engagement efforts with local neighborhood associations post-workshops as part of its broader mission to identify projects that garner strong community support for positive impacts.
