Mayor Ken Welch invites community members to join a “Move with the Mayor” walk event on May 9, 2025. The event, part of the National Forum for Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Move More with the Mayor Campaign, also ties in with Mental Health Awareness Month. It begins at 9 a.m. on the steps of City Hall in St. Petersburg.

“Physical and mental health are often pushed aside when experiencing stress or hard times, so I’m proud to host ‘Move with the Mayor’ to promote physical and mental well-being in our neighborhoods,” said Mayor Kenneth T. Welch. “I invite St. Pete employees, residents, and businesses to lace up their sneakers and join me for an exciting morning of movement, community, and wellness.”

“Move with the Mayor” aims to stress the importance of physical activity, raise mental health awareness, and encourage community engagement in wellness efforts.

The walk is scheduled to last from 9 to 10 a.m., starting at 175 5th St. N. It will lead participants through the downtown business corridor, offering a chance for social interaction while viewing the city. Following the walk, resource tables will be available to inform attendees about community support services.

Overall, the event aims to foster engagement with both physical and mental health resources, contributing to a knowledgeable and resilient community.
