The Eckerd College men’s golf team finished fifth overall at the Matlock Classic, a two-day tournament held at Lone Palm Golf Club in Lakeland, Florida. The event took place on Monday and Tuesday.
Reggie Fear led the Tritons with a strong performance, securing second place individually. He finished 9-under par with a total score of 207. Fear’s best round was his first, where he shot a 67 for five under par. He followed this with a 71 in the second round and a 69 in the final round on Tuesday.
Henry Wigg was the next highest finisher for Eckerd, placing 28th after recording a combined score of 221 over three rounds. Wigg improved after an opening round of 77 by shooting a 71 to finish Monday and then posting a 73 in the last round.
Josh DiZinno and Tyler Van Dusen both tied for 49th place with scores of 227. DiZinno moved up the leaderboard after achieving his best score of the tournament—a 74—on Tuesday. Van Dusen’s top effort also came with a score of 74, but in the opening round.
Julian Lombisano completed Eckerd’s lineup, finishing in 54th place with a score of 228.
The Tritons are scheduled to compete again at the Saint Leo Invite on February 16-17.
