The College Sports Communicators announced its annual Academic All-District Team on May 26, with five University of South Florida softball players earning recognition. Olivia Elliott, Alexa Galligani, Anne Long, Karhys Pierce, and Alex Wilkes were selected for their achievements both on the field and in the classroom.
Elliott received her third consecutive Academic All-District honor. She was also an American Conference All-Tournament Team selection and finished the season with a .301 batting average, 55 hits, 35 runs scored, and four home runs. Elliott is majoring in econometrics and quantitative economics.
Galligani earned her third straight CSC Academic All-District selection. She was named to the All-American Conference second team and had a .338 batting average while going perfect on stolen base attempts at 9-for-9. Galligani is studying criminology.
Long received her first Academic All-District accolade after being named American Conference Pitcher of the Year and Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She set a program record by pitching 14 innings in a single game—the second-most in NCAA history—and finished with an ERA of 1.84. Long is pursuing psychology.
Pierce was recognized for the first time as well; she posted a .322 batting average along with eight doubles and two triples while majoring in health sciences. Wilkes earned her second Academic All-District honor after leading both team and conference statistics with 16 doubles—a mark tied for fifth in program history—and posting a .339 batting average along with nine home runs; she majors in biomedical sciences.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must be sophomores or above with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA and significant participation during the season through games played or started; pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or pitched at least 35 innings.
The South Florida softball program has made 19 NCAA tournament appearances under head coach Ken Eriksen—who enters his 29th season in 2026—and reached the Women’s College World Series once. The program has produced multiple national award winners, including Georgina Corrick’s historic NCAA Pitching Triple Crown achievement in 2022.
