Pinellas County announced on June 3 that young adults are invited to participate in a signature Youth Civic Day at Heritage Village, marking the museum’s 50th anniversary and aligning with America’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, from noon to 2 p.m. at Heritage Village’s Pinellas Room in Largo.
The event will feature prizes, complimentary pizza provided by Pizza to the Polls and Made By Us, an interactive exhibit exploration challenge, and other activities designed to connect participants with local history. Organizers encourage registration for this free program.
Themed “Illuminating the Past, Inspiring the Future,” the day aims to engage Gen Z residents in civic initiatives by offering an interactive photo challenge where attendees can explore exhibits and capture stories for a special prize pack. A speakers’ panel led by members of the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Youth Advisory Council will present perspectives on youth advocacy and community leadership. Additional highlights include student-developed display panels from the Smithsonian’s Democracy in Dialogue Virtual Exchange Program and a preview of “50 Years of Collecting,” a new exhibition focused on Heritage Village’s foundational history.
Heritage Village is a 21-acre history museum and park located in Largo. It operates as part of Pinellas County’s Parks & Conservation Resources Department and houses some of the county’s oldest historic structures while providing insight into regional culture and history.
Pinellas County serves more than one million residents and visitors while managing over 20,000 acres of parks and preserves; it also maintains comprehensive facilities such as St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport, four nationally recognized beaches including Fort De Soto Park, and thousands of acres dedicated to recreation, according to the official website.
