Jo Kremer has been appointed as the new head coach of the University of South Florida (USF) Bulls beach volleyball team, USF CEO of Athletics Rob Higgins announced on May 30. Kremer joins USF after three seasons as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Stanford University, where she helped lead the Cardinal to a school-record 39-5 season and their first-ever appearance in the NCAA Championship Match.

Kremer is a three-time national champion from her time as a student-athlete at the University of Southern California. She was recognized as the 2018 Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and has coaching experience with Tulane, USA Youth Beach Volleyball, and several high school and club programs. “We are thrilled to welcome Jo and her husband, Marshall, to Bulls Nation at a very exciting time for South Florida Athletics,” Higgins said. “Jo brings an incredible background as both a player and coach. She was part of three national championship teams at USC and has helped elevate programs at Stanford and Tulane to record-setting seasons and ranking among the nation’s best programs. With a new on-campus beach volleyball facility set for completion this summer and Jo leading our program, Bulls beach volleyball is on a very exciting trajectory as we enter the program’s second season.”

During her tenure at Stanford from 2024 to 2026, Kremer contributed to consistent top-five rankings nationally for the Cardinal team, including capturing their first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title in 2025. In addition to her collegiate coaching roles, she served with USA Youth Beach Volleyball during international competition in Israel.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have the opportunity to lead the USF Beach Volleyball Program,” Kremer said. “I want to thank Rob Higgins, Lelo Prado, Delaney Ryan, and many others for giving me this opportunity. I share their vision for the future of USF Athletics, especially their belief in women’s sports and their commitment to the student-athlete experience. I am extremely excited about the roster and look forward to supporting these unbelievable young women on and off the sand! Go Bulls!”

USF Athletics sponsors 21 varsity teams competing primarily in NCAA Division I within The American Athletic Conference since joining it in 2013; its athletic district features updated venues for various sports such as baseball, softball, soccer, basketball—and now includes women’s lacrosse alongside women’s beach volleyball—according to the official website. The department has produced Olympians representing multiple countries while capturing numerous conference championships—including seventeen national titles—and emphasizes community involvement along with values of inclusion.

As USF prepares for its second season fielding women’s beach volleyball under new leadership amid ongoing facility improvements on campus grounds known as Tampa General Athletics District—which hosts nearly five hundred student-athletes—the university continues building upon its legacy within collegiate athletics.
