St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch and his Economic Development team announced on May 20 that they will host the 2026 State of the Economy event on Wednesday, June 3, from 4 to 6 p.m. at The Mahaffey Theater.
The event aims to provide an overview of St. Petersburg’s local economic performance, focusing on jobs, business growth, and broader economic trends that impact residents. It will also highlight key city initiatives and investments intended to strengthen economic vitality and support sustainable community growth.
Mayor Welch will be joined by City Council Chair Lisset Hanewicz as well as guest speakers Michelle Detweiler, President & CEO of Parc Center for Disabilities, and Pat Mack, Founder & CEO of PVM. Registration is required due to limited seating capacity; attendees can register at www.stpete.org/SOTE2026. Those unable to attend in person can watch a livestream on the City’s Facebook page.
St. Petersburg has a history marked by its legacy in baseball since hosting spring training in 1914 and early adoption of commercial aviation with the historic Tampa Bay flight in the same year, according to the official history page.
