City of St. Petersburg crews have announced that they have completed the full storm debris sweep on impacted streets from the no-name December storm. The crews have been working diligently to clear the debris and ensure the safety of the residents.
“We have checked all the areas and made sure that there are no remaining items,” said a representative from the City of St. Petersburg. “We want to assure the residents that we are doing everything we can to address the aftermath of the storm.”
However, the City of St. Petersburg is urging residents to reach out if their storm debris has not been picked up yet. Residents are advised to call 727-893-7398 to schedule a Special Pickup or submit a ticket via SeeClickFix on the city’s website.
“We understand that some residents might still have storm debris that needs to be collected,” said the representative. “We encourage residents to contact us as soon as possible so that we can arrange for a pick-up.”
The City of St. Petersburg has provided guidelines on how to properly place storm debris for pick-up. Residents are advised to place their debris in front of their house near the roadway curb. It is important to not place debris near trees, poles, fire hydrants, utility boxes, or other structures that may obstruct debris removal. Additionally, debris should not be placed in alleyways, on sidewalks, or in the street, as this can block roadways and cause further disruptions.
“We kindly request residents to follow these guidelines to ensure an efficient collection process,” said the representative. “If debris is not ready for pick-up, we ask residents to keep it on their private property.”
The City of St. Petersburg has also provided information on how to dispose of different types of debris. Vegetative debris, such as branches and leaves, should be taken to one of the five Brush Sites or placed in the resident’s trash bin for regularly scheduled pick-up. The locations and hours of the Brush Sites can be found on the city’s official website. For debris that does not fit in the trash bin, residents are advised to call 727-893-7398 and schedule a Special Pickup.
Chemicals, such as paint and gasoline, can be taken to the Pinellas County Household Hazardous Waste Center free of charge. Residents are encouraged to contact 727-464-7500 or visit the county’s website for more information on hours and directions.
Lastly, the dumpsters that have been placed in Denver Park will be removed on Monday, January 15. Residents who still have storm debris are advised to place it in the dumpsters before Monday morning.
The City of St. Petersburg is committed to restoring normalcy after the no-name December storm and is working diligently to ensure that all storm debris is removed safely and efficiently. Residents are encouraged to reach out if they have any questions or concerns regarding the debris pick-up process.
“We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our residents during this time,” said the representative. “Together, we can overcome the challenges brought by the storm and restore our community.”
