During the first quarter of 2026, Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center ranked among the three largest nursing homes in Pinellas County, sharing its position with Marion and Bernard L Samson Nursing Center and Oak Manor Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, as reported by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The facility had 180 beds available, which was 67 more than the county average during the first quarter of 2026. It served an average of 170.5 residents over that time.
CMS assigned Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center an overall rating of 3 out of 5, which is slightly below Florida’s statewide nursing home average rating of 3.3.
Balanced Healthcare led as the largest nursing home in Pinellas County for the quarter with 299 beds, followed by Sabal Palms Health & Rehabilitation in second place, offering 244 beds.
By the end of the first quarter of 2026, Oakpark Health and Rehabilitation Center reported zero fines or penalties during the period.
Pinellas County, Florida, had a total of 53 for-profit nursing homes during that quarter.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the older adult demographic continues to rise while the younger population declines. Between 2020 and 2024, the population age 65 and older increased by 13%, as the under-18 group dropped by 1.7%. The number of older adults has climbed significantly over the past century, rising from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 analysis indicates that nearly half of adults ages 65 and up, about 28 million individuals, may require some form of long-term assistance, and over a third are projected to need nursing home care eventually.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
