Erica Sutherlin will direct ‘Passing Strange,’ a Tony Award-winning musical, opening at Studio@620 on June 11 and running through June 21.
The production, which has won three Drama Desk awards in addition to the Tony for Best Musical, follows the journey of a young bohemian seeking authenticity. The story centers on ‘The Youth,’ a young Black musician who leaves his middle-class home behind to embark on an unpredictable quest through Europe involving art, music, and personal discovery.
Created by singer-songwriter and performance artist Stew Stewart, the rock musical features a genre-bending score. Organizers say it aims to keep audiences entertained as they follow The Youth’s experiences with sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll while searching for meaning in life.
Studio@620 will host the show’s run from June 11 through June 21. Further details about ticketing or additional performances were not included in the announcement.
