Applications are being accepted for three Health Care Provider positions on the Suncoast Health Council, with appointments set for two-year terms beginning from the date of appointment, according to a May 26 announcement. The deadline to apply is 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. Applications can be accessed at the Pinellas County website under “Vacancies.”

The Suncoast Health Council plans and advises on health needs in Pasco and Pinellas counties. Its board consists of 12 members: eight appointed by the Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners and four by the Pasco County Board of County Commissioners.

The council operates as an independent nonprofit organization governed by a volunteer board representing health care consumers, providers, and purchasers in both counties. It collects and analyzes health care data, describes community health status, identifies needs and resources, and collaborates with partners to design programs that address current and emerging needs. Members are appointed as either Health Care Providers (such as doctors), Consumers (individuals who receive medical care but do not provide or purchase it), or Purchasers (authorized individuals who buy health services on behalf of others).

Meetings take place quarterly on the third Wednesday of designated months from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., typically at the Mid County Health Department in Largo. Agendas and materials are provided about ten days before each meeting; binders are distributed at meetings. More information is available at www.suncoasthealthcouncil.org.

The Board of County Commissioners will review all applications before making selections at an upcoming meeting.

Pinellas County serves more than one million residents while managing over 20,000 acres of parks and preserves; it also maintains comprehensive facilities such as St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport and has earned recognition for its beaches including Fort De Soto Park, according to the official website.
