South Florida Beach Volleyball finished the second day of the Gulf Front Invitational with a split, losing to No. 5 Florida State University and then defeating Mercer, according to an April 18 announcement.
The event held significance as it marked Senior Day for the team. The Bulls first faced a strong challenge from Florida State, falling in all five matches. Despite close contests, including a tight match on court one where Julia Panko and Cornelia Crudu narrowly lost both sets, South Florida was unable to secure a point against the Seminoles.
In their next matchup against Mercer, South Florida started strong with Ariana Medchill and Sasha Pasloski winning on court four. Although Mercer evened the score on court two, Addison Bounds and Kate Stewart restored South Florida’s lead with a straight-set victory on court five. Panko and Crudu clinched the dual for South Florida after winning in two sets on court one. Morgan Anderson and Ryann Genest completed the day by taking their match in three sets.
The Bulls have swept both meetings against Mercer this season. The team will travel to Youngsville, Louisiana next week for the Conference USA Championships scheduled for April 23-25.
