The City of St. Petersburg has announced the return of its Neighborhood Tree Matching Mini-Grant Program for a third funding cycle. The program, which offers grants up to $10,000, is open for applications from neighborhood and business associations until September 20, 2024. The initiative aims to plant shade trees in approved rights-of-way and street-facing front yards.
Previous cycles have resulted in the planting of over 70 shade trees throughout St. Petersburg communities. To facilitate understanding of the application process, the city will host a Pre-Application Meeting on August 19, 2024, at Frank Pierce Recreation Center. Interested parties are encouraged to RSVP by emailing Brittany.Jones@stpete.org.
Applications must be submitted by registered neighborhood or business associations with no outstanding grants from the city, except those from round two of this program. Projects need to be completed within a year and must involve planting approved tree species without utility conflicts.
