The City of St. Petersburg announced on May 20 that certain city facilities and services will be closed on Monday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day.

This announcement is important for residents who rely on municipal services and need to adjust their plans due to the holiday schedule.

According to the city, residential trash and recycling collection normally scheduled for Monday will instead take place on Tuesday. Tuesday collections will shift to Wednesday, while Thursday and Friday collections will proceed as usual. The city encourages residents to find more information at www.stpete.org/HolidayClosures or download the St. Pete Collects app for updates about their collection day.

St. Petersburg has a history of community engagement through inclusivity, innovation, and equitable policies, according to the official website. The city is also recognized for its legacy in baseball spring training since 1914, early adoption of commercial aviation with the historic Tampa Bay flight in 1914, a diverse cultural scene including vibrant neighborhoods and arts initiatives, notable infrastructure such as the municipal marina and Museum of Fine Arts, and efforts that extend across Pinellas County fostering growth through various community initiatives—all according to the official history page.

Residents are advised to check official resources for any further updates regarding service adjustments during holidays.
