St. Petersburg residents can request free collection of live Christmas trees as the holiday season ends. The City of St. Petersburg is offering this service by special request, rather than conducting a citywide sweep as in previous years, due to more households using artificial trees.

To schedule a pickup, residents should submit a photo through the SeeClickFix app or call the Sanitation Department at 727-893-7398. Instructions require all decorations and accessories to be removed from the tree before placing it out for collection by 7 a.m. in the usual trash pickup location. Trees should not be placed inside trash or recycling containers or leaned against public infrastructure such as electrical poles or water meters.

Collection will occur between December 29, 2025, and February 9, 2026. Residents in apartments and condos are advised to consult property managers for disposal guidelines.

Residents also have the option to drop off live trees at one of five city brush sites between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., seven days a week, except on New Year’s Day when sites are closed. Proof of residency is required.

For artificial trees or other large items that do not fit in standard bins with lids closed, residents may use the same special pickup request process via SeeClickFix or phone.

Additional information about these services is available at www.stpete.org/SpecialPickUp and www.stpete.org/BrushSites.

St. Petersburg operates as a municipal entity focused on community development and environmental protection (official website). The city also offers various public services aimed at improving quality of life for its residents (official website).
