City crews in St. Petersburg are actively assessing the damage caused by Hurricane Helene and providing necessary resources to affected residents and businesses. The city has expressed gratitude towards task force teams that are assisting St. Pete Fire Rescue and the St. Pete Police Department with search and rescue operations.
Residents who have lost power can visit designated locations across St. Petersburg on Sunday, September 29, to cool off and charge their electronic devices. In an effort to support recovery efforts, downtown parking meters and time limit requirements have been suspended through the weekend. Tickets issued for expired meters or overtime parking during this period will be automatically voided, with regular enforcement resuming on Monday, September 30 at 8 a.m.
Those whose city trash or recycling bins were misplaced during the storm can request replacements via the SeeClickFix app or by calling 727-893-7111.
Several city boat ramps remain closed due to storm surge impacts from Hurricane Helene. City crews have conducted an initial sweep of the area to clear roadways of debris, with further sweeps planned to remove debris from residential curbs.
The collection of residential storm debris is expected to begin no sooner than October 7, with residents advised not to place debris in trash bags. Debris should be separated into specific item groups for disposal.
Residents are encouraged to document any flood damage before disposing of items by taking photos and videos of both structural and personal property damage inside and outside their homes. This documentation will be needed for insurance claims or assistance from FEMA.
