The City of St. Petersburg is actively working on the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, focusing on cleanup efforts and debris disposal. Although the storm has passed, residents are warned about potential minor street flooding due to higher than normal tides expected today and tomorrow.
Street sweepers are currently clearing debris from roads, but they cannot handle palm fronds or larger limbs. Residents are advised to collect such items and follow specific disposal instructions provided by the city.
Efforts are underway to clear eight downed trees that have disrupted power lines. While power has been restored at Childs Park Library, North Branch Library remains without electricity as city teams work on restoration.
City golf courses will remain closed until further notice as cleanup continues.
Residents are encouraged to dispose of storm debris by placing it in their City trash bins if possible. For larger debris that does not fit in the bin, residents can take it to one of the City’s Brush Sites or request a Special Pickup through the SeeClickFix app or by calling 727-893-7398. Only vegetative debris from Hurricane Debby will be collected, and fees may apply for large item pickups unless there is documented flooding with building services.
Residents should place debris near their roadway curb while avoiding trash bags and ensuring not to block streets or sidewalks with waste materials.
