The City of St. Petersburg is organizing a Hurricane Expo aimed at senior citizens. This event will take place at The Sunshine Center, located at 330 5th St. N., on Thursday, August 1. The objective is to provide seniors with vital knowledge and resources to ensure they are prepared for hurricane season.

Scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., the expo offers participants the chance to interact with the city’s emergency preparedness team. Attendees will receive important tips on various aspects of hurricane preparation, such as understanding evacuation zones, adhering to safety notices, and using sandbags effectively. “Understanding one’s zone and preparing in advance significantly enhances safety during storm events,” stated the organizers.

Registration for the event can be completed online at the provided link. Additionally, the first 30 households to register will receive a free hurricane kit containing essential items for storm readiness.

Further information about hurricane preparedness is available on the city’s website.
