St. Petersburg hosts school supply drive for upcoming backpack giveaway

The City of St. Petersburg’s Bay Vista Recreation Center is organizing a school supply drive to support local students in grades K-8 as they prepare for the upcoming school year. The donation drop-off point is located at Bay Vista Recreation Center, 7000 4th St. S, and will be accepting new items from Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., until July 31.

Suggested donations include backpacks, folders, notebook paper, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, glue sticks, rulers, and scissors.

The collected supplies will be distributed to students during the Backpack Giveaway event on Saturday, August 10, from 1-4 p.m. at the center. The event will also feature activities such as bounce houses, music, and free food.

Families wishing to receive school supplies must register online between July 15 and August 1.
