Cold night shelters in St. Petersburg are open on Monday, November 10, as coordinated by the Homeless Leadership Alliance. The activation of these shelters follows the National Weather Service’s forecast of a “feels like” temperature below 40 degrees between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. across Pinellas County.

Shelters will accept guests until they reach capacity. Locations available for adult men and women in St. Petersburg include the Unitarian Universalist Church at 100 Mirror Lake Dr. N and the Salvation Army at 1400 4th Street South, both operating from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The Unitarian Universalist Church requires the use of stairs and is accessible via PSTA Routes #9, #20, #24 SunRunner, while the Salvation Army can be reached by PSTA Route #4A or B.

For transportation, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) is offering free bus rides to and from Cold Night Shelters from 5 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday. Riders need to inform drivers that they are heading to a Pinellas Cold Night Shelter to ride without paying a fare.

Families with children seeking shelter on cold nights may be placed in family shelters if space permits; those needing assistance should call First Contact at 2-1-1 for information about options in St. Petersburg and Clearwater.

More information about additional shelter locations throughout Pinellas County can be found at www.PinellasHomeless.org/coldnightshelters.

The public is encouraged to support the Cold Night Shelter Program through volunteering or donations at www.PinellasHomeless.org/coldnightshelters.
