The City of St. Petersburg has announced its intention to apply for funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The funds are sought under the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program Grant, aimed at reducing flood risks in the area.

According to a public notice released on August 6, 2024, residents have a 30-day window to provide their comments on this initiative. This period allows community members to express their views or concerns regarding the city’s application for these grant funds.

This effort is part of a broader strategy by St. Petersburg to enhance its resilience against flooding events that have increasingly affected many regions across Florida.
