As recovery efforts continue following Hurricanes Helene and Milton, the City of St. Petersburg has announced updates on available resources. The Florida Department of Children and Families will set up a Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) application site at Tropicana Field Parking Lots 1 and 2 from December 7 to 9, operating between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. D-SNAP is designed to provide food assistance to individuals and families affected by the hurricanes who do not receive regular SNAP benefits. Motorists should anticipate delays in the area as 16th Street between 1st and 5th Avenues South will be closed.
Residents are encouraged to pre-register online and check eligibility criteria before visiting the site, with further details available at myflfamilies.com/DSNAP.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has updated hours for its Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) located at the Enoch D. Davis Center, which will now be closed on Sundays in line with statewide adjustments. The center will operate Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Staffed by personnel from federal, state, and regional partners, the DRC offers a range of disaster recovery resources including FEMA application assistance, guidance on disaster programs, translation services, status updates on applications, access to computers and phones, among others.
Visitors should bring identification, proof of residence, insurance information, and any documentation related to their disaster-related losses to ensure they receive appropriate assistance.
Residents can also register for FEMA assistance online at DisasterAssistance.gov or via the FEMA app or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362). Additional DRC locations are listed at fema.gov/drc or can be found by texting “DRC” along with a Zip Code to 43362.
