USF women’s golf ties for seventh at Gator Invitational

The University of South Florida women’s golf team concluded the Gator Invitational in Gainesville tied for seventh place. The event, held at Mark Bostick Golf Course, featured teams from across the country.

Tiphani Knight led USF with a +4 finish, tying for 15th overall. Cherry Marley finished tied for 26th, while Emma Kim posted a -1 in her third round to tie for 30th. Regina Plascencia and Holly Mclean also contributed to the team’s result.

USF will participate next in the Bell Bank “Pay It Forward” Invitational scheduled for March 23-24 in Arizona.

AJ Newell, a Tampa native and former LPGA Tour player, is serving her second season as head coach of USF women’s golf. In her first year leading the program, she coached Leonor Medeiros to earn a spot on the American All-Conference Team and guided the Bulls to four top-10 finishes during the 2024-25 season. Before joining USF, Newell spent three years as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan, where she helped lead the Wolverines to three consecutive NCAA Regional appearances and a Big Ten title in 2022, along with an appearance at that year’s NCAA Championship Finals.
