The University of South Florida women’s track and field team concluded its outdoor season on May 30 at the NCAA East First Rounds held at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Facility in Lexington, Kentucky.
In the jumps events, Lilah Versluis finished 35th in the high jump with a mark of 1.71 meters. Versluis also competed in the triple jump, placing 30th with a distance of 12.49 meters, while Zayin Roe secured 32nd place with a jump of 12.46 meters.
In hurdles, Doris Quainoo achieved a time of 13.27 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles to finish in 20th place.
Looking ahead, Jaleel Croal along with the men’s 4×100 meter relay team and men’s 4×400 meter relay squad are set to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships scheduled for June 10-13 at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Erik Jenkins is serving his seventh season as head coach for USF track and field. The Bulls’ men’s 4×400 meter relay team—Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey and Gabriel Moronta—won a national title with a program-record time of 3:00.42 at the previous year’s NCAA Outdoor Championships and earned a top-15 finish as a team. Nine athletes from USF received All-America honors this past season: Kobe Babin, Devontie Archer, Alexavier Monfries, Corey Ottey, Gabriel Moronta, Shomari Pettigrew, Jaleel Croal, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu and Vincent Ugwoke.
University of South Florida Athletics has produced Olympians representing multiple countries; captured numerous conference championships; promotes community involvement as well as values inclusion and equity; features updated athletic venues; has won several national championships; and participates in the American Athletic Conference—all according to the official website.
