An update has been provided regarding the wastewater discharge incident at the Northeast Water Reclamation Facility, which began on September 27, 2024. The facility discharged approximately 1,020,000 gallons of wastewater due to being taken offline. This measure was necessary to prevent severe damage from the storm surge caused by Hurricane Helene and ensure the plant’s operational status post-storm.

The discharged wastewater entered Placido Bayou. The facility resumed operations within 24 hours, ceasing the discharge on September 27, 2024.
