Wastewater spill in urban area leads to cleanup and disinfection efforts

On August 12, 2024, an incident occurred involving the discharge of approximately 150 gallons of wastewater from a manhole located at the 1700 block of 14th St. N. The cause was identified as a blockage consisting of grease, rags, and paper.

Of the total wastewater released, about 125 gallons reached a nearby storm drain. The remaining portion was contained and vacuumed on site. Authorities have confirmed that the area has been cleaned and disinfected to address any potential contamination.
