Young Catholic Professionals Tampa organized a team of 12 members to take part in the Paint Your Heart Out Tampa Annual Paint Day, according to a May 20 announcement from the Catholic Diocese of Saint Petersburg. The event took place on Saturday, May 9, and brought together hundreds of volunteers from across the community to help local homeowners in need.

The project provided an opportunity for young adults from parishes throughout the Diocese of Saint Petersburg to work together in service and fellowship. Volunteers engaged in painting, landscaping, preparation, and cleanup efforts at a local residence. Organizers said they appreciated being able to make a difference for a homeowner in Tampa.

Young Catholic Professionals Tampa is part of a national organization focused on helping men and women in their twenties and thirties integrate faith with their professional lives. The chapter was established locally in 2023 and offers networking events, speaker series, service projects, and spiritual formation activities. These programs are designed to help young professionals connect faith with work while building friendships.

Paint Your Heart Out Tampa is a nonprofit group that has provided free exterior house painting for low-income seniors, veterans, and disabled homeowners for more than three decades. Each year about 100 volunteer teams participate citywide during this annual event. Since its founding over 36 years ago, Paint Your Heart Out Tampa has painted more than 3,100 homes across the city.

The Diocese of Saint Petersburg serves approximately 500,000 Catholics in Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Hernando and Citrus Counties. The diocese includes 75 parishes, four missions, forty-six schools and two universities; since 2017 it has been led by Bishop Gregory Parkes, according to the Diocese of Saint Petersburg.

Organizers say Young Catholic Professionals Tampa plans to continue supporting similar community initiatives as it grows as a network for young Catholics seeking purpose through service.
