The annual Green Thumb Festival, the City of St. Petersburg’s Arbor Day celebration, is set to return on Saturday, April 27, through Sunday, April 28, at Walter Fuller Park, featuring over 120 garden, plant, and flower vendors, exhibitors, and activities for all ages.

Attendees can participate in various activities during the festival, including adult and youth workshops at the main tent. According to an unidentified source, individuals can "Join the fun during the two-day festival by participating in the featured activities." A full list of workshops is available on the festival's website, with limited spaces requiring preregistration.

One of the highlights of the event is the Garden Wagon Decorating Contest and Showcase on Saturday, April 27, at 11 a.m., where individuals can decorate their garden wagons for a chance to win prizes. There are two entry categories: youth and adult, with an entry fee of $5. Those interested can find contest rules and registration details on the festival's website.

In addition to the workshops and contests, the festival will feature the St. Petersburg Garden Club’s Flower Show, a $6 tree sale, plant diagnostic clinic, ask an arborist session, tool sharpening services, a raffle for free mulch delivery, free pine seedlings, festival merchandise, food trucks, and more.

For those looking to contribute to the event, there are volunteering opportunities available on both days. Another unidentified source mentioned, "Give back by volunteering at the festival." Interested individuals can find more information and sign up on the festival's website.

The St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation Department, which organizes the festival, is nationally accredited and aims to preserve and enhance the city’s parklands and recreational facilities. With 17 recreational facilities, nine swimming pools, over 150 parks, and more than 70 athletic fields, the department engages the community in leisure activities.

St. Petersburg, known as one of Florida’s largest cities, prides itself on being a diverse and vibrant city that values innovation, partnerships, and inclusivity. To learn more about the city and its initiatives, visit the official website at www.StPete.org.
