Gulf Beaches Elementary Magnet School issued the following announcement on Aug. 28.
SCHOOL COVID UPDATE
Hi everyone. The school has asked us to pass on some information regarding Covid protocols and the latest efforts to mitigate broader issues. So, a couple of notes:
- The district has a new Covid dashboard as of Tuesday, August 24. You can view it here: https://www.pcsb.org/covid19cases. See the note at the bottom of the page for information about a recent change in process.
- Once the school reports a case, they need to wait for the district Covid team to provide guidance for notifications and quarantine requirements. That process has been taking considerably longer than most would like. According to the office, that seems to have changed in the last few days and they're getting *much* faster results.
- This flow chart shows the decision tree for those who test positive or are exposed. Good to know if your child shows symptoms or tests positive.
- If you have any questions *at all* please give our administrative staff the benefit of calling and talking to them. They're doing the best they can in a bad situation and will share what they can. Last year, cases were limited in our school -- and most schools. This year, the situation is different, and our school's team is working hard to do everything they can to follow guidance and keep everyone safe and learning.
- As the district and school have shared since the beginning of the school year, masks are strongly encouraged. A sick or quarantined kid is not at school and not learning.
- Understanding there are strong feelings on this topic, *please* hold your comments here and share concerns or questions directly with the school or via DM. There are plenty of other places to share your views. Thank you!
