Admiral Farragut Academy is excited to announce the promotion of Mr. Panuthos to Assistant Dean of Students, Upper School!

Mark Panuthos has been a teacher and coach at Admiral Farragut Academy since 1996. He teaches Advanced Placement United States History, Advanced Placement Microeconomics, American government, and Intro to Economics. He has coached football, basketball, and baseball. Mr. Panuthos has organized a program with the National Parks Services in which APUSH students learn how to fire eighteenth-century artillery and muskets at the Castillo de San Marcos. Once they have completed the three-day “Cannon School” program, they will earn their Historical Weapons Proficiency certification and are then able to volunteer as a “living history volunteer” at the Castillo de San Marcos. He has also taken field trips throughout Europe, including trips to Greece, France, England, Austria, Germany, and Italy.

Mr. Panuthos teaches part-time at St Petersburg College and won a Silverberg Grant for a project which will film the stories of Tampa Bay area World War II and Korean War veterans and archive them with the Library of Congress. He was also recognized as a Part-Time Faculty Mentor through the SPC Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL). Mr. Panuthos designed the first totally online courses in American History for St Petersburg College. He has taught at SPC since 1996.

When not teaching, Mr. Panuthos has contributed original histories to numerous publications including Cigar City Magazine, ABC Clio – Daily Life in the Civil War Encyclopedia, and the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR). Mr. He is also a frequent guest-lecturer at historical societies throughout Pinellas County.

Mr. Panuthos is married with two children and lives in Seminole.
