The City of St. Petersburg has announced additional opportunities for residents to collect sandbags during non-emergency periods. This initiative aims to assist residents in preparing for storms throughout the year.
Sandbags will be available on the second Saturday of each month at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building, located at 1744 9th Ave. N. The upcoming distribution event is scheduled for Saturday, December 14, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
These extended hours are intended to increase accessibility and equity by allowing more residents to collect sandbags outside of typical work hours. The city encourages residents to take advantage of these opportunities to ensure they are prepared for potential storms.
Regular sandbag distribution occurs Monday through Friday and on the second Saturday of each month from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with these Saturday hours continuing until further notice. In the event of emergency storm declarations, distribution locations and hours will be adjusted accordingly, with updates provided on stpete.org/Sandbags.
Residents can receive up to ten sandbags per household, with proof of residency required for collection. Staff will be available to assist seniors and others who may need help filling and loading their sandbags.
