Mayor Welch’s “Housing Opportunities for All” plan just received a multi-million dollar funding boost in South St. Petersburg following the July 13 City Council meeting.

The new $2.1 million commitment from Mayor Welch’s Administration and City Council will expand affordable and workforce housing options, and green light the construction for dozens of new homes in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area (CRA).

“People are looking for impactful opportunities to protect and nurture their families, which means safe neighborhoods and high-quality housing that is stable and affordable,” said St. Petersburg Mayor Kenneth T. Welch. “We are not only strengthening our partnership with Namaste Homes, Habitat for Humanity and CHAF Properties to produce and build the homes, but also ensuring a lower mortgage interest rate and greater affordability for families and individuals.”

Funding would impact the completion of 60-plus units of affordable and workforce housing:

  • Namaste Homes $1,056,000
  • Habitat for Humanity $640,000
  • CHAF Properties $300,000
  • Other Single-Family Developers $140,000
The City of St. Petersburg will continue to collaborate and be intentional in its push for Inclusive Progress, equity, and opportunities for all residents and communities.
