As St. Petersburg braces for a potential storm expected to affect the area over the weekend and into next week, city officials have revised the sandbag distribution schedule to help residents protect their properties from possible flooding.

The City has announced that the year-round sandbag location at the Pavement and Traffic Operations Building on 9th Avenue North is now closed. Instead, emergency full-service sandbag locations will be available on Friday, August 2, and Saturday, August 3, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., or until weather conditions permit.

Full-service sandbag locations include Lake Maggiore Park Shelter Area at 3601 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street South, Northeast Park East Baseball Field Parking Lot at 955 62nd Avenue North, and Northwest Swimming Pool Parking Lot Park at 2331 60th Street North.

Self-service locations will also be open during this period at Dell Homes Park located at 2741 22nd Street South, Fossil Park Northern Most Parking Lot at 6875 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North, and Walter Fuller Soccer Field Parking Lot at 2800 75th Street North.

Residents are reminded that each household can receive up to ten sandbags. Proof of residency such as a driver's license is required for collection. Assistance with filling and loading sandbags will be provided for seniors and those needing help only at full-service locations.

The City encourages residents to sign up for Alert Pinellas and follow St. Petersburg's social media channels for real-time updates on sandbag availability and other storm-related alerts.
