The City of St. Petersburg has announced its intention to seek funding from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Florida Division of Emergency Management. The aim is to secure a grant under the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program. This program is designed to help communities mitigate the impact of flooding.

The city has issued a public notice regarding this initiative, inviting residents and stakeholders to provide their comments on the proposal. The public comment period will remain open for 30 days from August 22, 2024.

This effort reflects St. Petersburg's ongoing commitment to addressing environmental challenges and ensuring community safety through proactive measures.
