St. Petersburg, FL (January 17, 2024) - The City of St. Petersburg is actively seeking residents to serve on various boards and committees. One of the boards currently seeking members is the Advisory Commission on Aging. Comprising 15 individuals, the commission aims to protect and ensure the quality of life for St. Petersburg's aging community. Another committee with available seats is the Consolidated Plan Application Review Committee. This committee, consisting of City Council Members and private citizens, is responsible for reviewing applications submitted for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding. Their recommendations are then presented to the full City Council for approval. "We play a vital role in ensuring that funding is allocated to projects that benefit our community," stated a member of the committee.

The Health Facilities Authority (HFA) is also seeking individuals to join their ranks. The HFA's primary function is to provide tax-exempt financing and refinancing for not-for-profit organizations that offer hospital, nursing home, or other health-related services. The authority conducts public hearings, known as TEFRA hearings, as required by the federal Tax Exempt Financing Reform Act for health facilities projects. "By participating in the HFA, you can contribute to improving the accessibility and affordability of healthcare services in our city," emphasized a representative from the authority.
