June 13, 2024 – CareFest, a regional community volunteering and donation initiative, returns this Fall from September 1 to October 31. The City of St. Petersburg is encouraging residents and neighborhood organizations to submit local projects for consideration for the annual CareFest event. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, August 1.
"CareFest embodies the spirit of St. Petersburg by bringing together neighbors to support one another and enhance our community. Each year, volunteers complete more than 400 projects in the Tampa Bay area - a testament to the dedication and generosity of our residents," said Amy Foster, Housing and Neighborhood Services Administrator. "I urge residents to get involved. Together, we can make a meaningful impact and continue to build a stronger, more vibrant St. Pete."
Residents are invited to submit home or neighborhood improvement projects they need assistance with during CareFest season. Homeowners may request help with tasks such as yard work, pressure washing, interior patching or painting, and repairing or replacing fencing.
Neighborhood associations can propose project ideas including but not limited to corridor cleanups, donation drives, park cleanups, storm drain marking projects, shoreline plantings, and beautification efforts.
Last year’s event saw St. Pete residents hosting 13 donation drives and completing 33 private property projects along with 25 neighborhood improvement initiatives that included several park cleanups resulting in over 60 tons of trash collected.
