The City of St. Petersburg is inviting residents to participate in local governance by joining one of several boards and committees that currently have vacancies. These positions provide an opportunity for community members to contribute to the city's development and welfare.

The Advisory Commission on Aging is seeking new members. This 15-member commission works to support, leverage, and advocate for programs that enhance the quality of life for the elderly population in St. Petersburg. Their vision focuses on ensuring seniors can access necessary services and resources for a safe and independent life.

Residents interested in redevelopment issues may consider joining the Citizen Advisory Committee (CAC). This committee advises the St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Agency on matters related to the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Plan and other policies impacting redevelopment efforts.

The Code Enforcement Board requires individuals willing to participate in hearings concerning city code or ordinance violations. The board meets monthly to issue findings based on presented cases.

For those with an interest in urban planning, the Development Review Commission (DRC) evaluates development proposals within the city limits, ensuring they align with existing regulations such as the Comprehensive Plan and zoning ordinances.

The Nuisance Abatement Board addresses properties involved in illegal activities, working towards crime reduction and enhancing public safety by encouraging property owners' accountability.

Additionally, the Social Services Allocation Committee focuses on promoting residents' health, economic stability, and social well-being by reviewing applications for Social Action Funding Grants and advising the City Council on funding allocations.

Further information about these opportunities can be found at www.stpete.org/GetInvolved. Residents are encouraged to learn more about how they can serve their community through these roles.
