March 28, 2025 - St. Petersburg will host the third annual City of Writers Poetry Festival this April in honor of National Poetry Month. Organized by the city's Poet Laureate, Gloria Muñoz, in collaboration with community partners, the event will feature a wide array of activities such as discussions with renowned poets, writing workshops, and poetry readings.
The festival involves partnerships with various local entities including Eckerd College, St. Pete Youth Farm, the Dali Museum, Black Crow Coffee, Tombolo Books, the St. Pete Pier, and celebrated local authors.
"We are excited about the return of the City of Writers Poetry Festival this year," said Gloria Muñoz, Poet Laureate for the City of St. Petersburg. "This is another opportunity for visitors and residents of St. Pete to experience the rich culture and talents of local businesses and performers. We encourage everyone to get involved and be inspired."
Highlighted events include:
- Community Poetry's Sound Bath hosted by Denzel Johnson-Green on Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m. at Black Crow Grand Central - Courtyard.
- Dalí Poetry Series and Eckerd College's presentation of Natalie Diaz on Thursday, April 10, at 6:30 p.m. at The Dali Museum-Will Raymund Theater.
- Wellness Monday Poetry Workshop featuring Silk Jazmyne on Monday, April 21, at 6 p.m. at St. Pete Youth Farm, organized with the Academy of American Poets.
- "This Is the Year": Beach Clean Up and Poetry with Take Mar and Gloria Muñoz on Saturday, April 26, at 9 a.m. at Fort DeSoto Park, in cooperation with the Florida Humanities Council.
